Rock Hill – Mrs. Anna Kate Leslie, 96, widow of the late Martin L. Leslie, went to meet her Redeemer on Friday, January 25th, at Westminster Health and Rehab.
Born and raised in the Leslie community of Rock Hill, she attended and was graduated from Rock Hill High School and Winthrop University.
Mrs. Leslie served God and expressed her love for children by teaching elementary school in the Rock Hill school system for 40 years. She also served her Lord by teaching Sunday School, serving in Women’s Ministries, Missions, Vacation Bible School, and After School Bible Club at Neely’s Creek ARP Church, where she was a lifelong member. She served alongside her husband who was an elder at the church.
In 1986, she retired from her teaching career to keep her beloved granddaughters Laura and Katie, in whom she helped to instill a love for God, reading, and nature. She was blessed with many nieces and nephews whom she also loved, delighted in, and taught some in Sunday School.
Mrs. Leslie was preceded in death by husband Martin L. Leslie, her parents Ernest F. Williams and Irene Thomasson Williams, a sister Marguerite Williams, and seven brothers Herbert, Steve, Nat, Ernest, Benny, Frank, and Charles.
She is survived by her daughter Marguerite McGowan, two granddaughters Laura Marie Iliff (Joel) and Katie Irene McGowan, and a precious great granddaughter Meridian Irene Iliff.
She and her husband led a rich, full life of service to family, church, and community for the praise and glory of God their Heavenly Father, with whom they now abide for eternity.
The family will receive friends at 2:00pm, Tuesday, January 29th, 2019 at Neely’s Creek ARP church, with the service to follow at 3:00pm officiated by the Reverend Matt Joldersma.
