ROCK HILL -Mrs. Margaret “Anne” Faris Glasscock, 84, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 at HarborChase of Rock Hill, surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will be held Tuesday morning, May 1, 2018 at 10:00 – 11:30 AM at Greene Funeral Home, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC, followed by a graveside service at 12:00 noon at Neely’s Creek ARP Church Cemetery, 974 Neely’s Creek Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730. Reverend Debra Quilling-Smith, officiating. Family will receive friends after the funeral at the home of Jim and Betty Faris, 108 Lone Oak Circle, Rock Hill SC 29732.
Anne previously lived at Park Pointe Village, Rock Hill and was a long-time resident of Charlotte, NC. Anne was born in Rock Hill, November 5th, 1933 to the late James T. Faris and Mary Seagle Faris. Anne attended Winthrop Training School and after graduating high school completed her Bachelor’s degree from Winthrop University in 1956. She married the love of her life, James “Jim” Simpson Glasscock in 1958. Anne loved teaching and was a school teacher for most of her life at Paw Creek Elementary School in Charlotte, NC. She taught both second and third grade. After retirement, Anne continued to give back to the community and mentored children at the school for many years. Anne was an active member of Paw Creek Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, for over 50 years and most recently attended St. John’s Methodist Church, Rock Hill. Anne was an avid bridge player and enjoyed participating in many different bridge clubs throughout her life. She also enjoyed snow skiing with her family and friends. Loved tending to her flower gardens. Anne was loved by her family, friends and will be missed by all including two large extended families.
She is survived by her loving son, James Simpson Glasscock, Jr. and his husband, Roland Mitchell Cupit of Richmond, VA; by her brother, James T Faris, Jr. and his wife, Betty of Rock Hill and numerous nieces and nephews. By her dear friend and caregiver, Patty Hegarty of Rock Hill. In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her loving husband, James S. Glasscock, her loving son, Thomas Gregory Glasscock and his wife, Joy K. Glasscock and her loving sister, Dr. Mary Jean Faris Ligon Martin.
