Rock Hill – Barbara Eloise Adams Kimsey, age 87, passed away at her home May 2, 2018 following a brief illness.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill with Rev. Eddie Ramsey officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the cemetery.  She is reunited with her husband of 56 years, the late Carlton Clifford Kimsey.  People who knew Eloise loved her silvery hair and beautiful smile.

Eloise was a daughter of the late Henry Frank and Ella Mae Ratliff Adams.  Along with her parents, sisters Carrie Lee and Margaret, and brothers Clayton and Henry also welcome her home.

Eloise was born August 28, 1930 in Morven, Anson County, North Carolina. She later moved with her family to Cowpens, South Carolina where she graduated from Cowpens High School in 1949 before marrying the love of her life, Carlton, and moving to Rock Hill.  She and Carlton raised their two sons with Christian values.  She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church for over sixty-five years, and a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class.

Over the decades in Rock Hill she treasured her friends from church, Home Federal Savings and Loan where she worked for 25 years, as well as neighbors on Charlotte Avenue and Westminster Towers.  She enjoyed sewing and needlecrafts, and her chocolate pie and cheese rings are legendary.  “LaLa” to her grandchildren, Eloise loved her time with them the most of all.

She is survived by her two sons, Gary Carlton Kimsey and wife Roberta (Bobbi) Kimsey, and Greg Clifford Kimsey and wife Deborah Storer Kimsey, all of Fort Mill; two grandsons: Charles Clifford (Cliff) Kimsey of Rock Hill, and Glen Joseph Kimsey of Cary, NC; one granddaughter, Christina (Christie) Mariel Kimsey of Los Angeles, CA; niece Linda Gail Price, nephew Donald J. Teague, both of Shelby, NC.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to her many attentive friends who were close by during her brief illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in her honor to Oakland Baptist Church, 1067 Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill, SC 29732.  Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel is in charge
