ROCK HILL – Mrs. Emily Jamieson Prestwood, 86, passed away on Sunday January 7, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. She is now at peace with her heavenly father.
A visitation for friends and family will be held at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 7- 8:30 PM. The funeral will be held at 2 PM on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Tirzah Presbyterian Church, 180 Tirzah Rd, York SC with the Reverend Paul W. Abell, Jr. officiating. There will be a graveside service following the funeral at Ebenezer ARP Church Cemetery, 2132 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Mrs. Prestwood was born on February 3, 1931 to Parker and Manolia Jamieson in Rock Hill, SC. She was married in 1950 to her husband, Alfred Charles Prestwood who preceded her in death. Emily was a bookkeeper at Lowenstein in Rock Hill and at Royal Insurance in Charlotte, NC for over 30 years. She was also active in both Tirzah and Ebenezer Presbyterian Church and enjoyed sewing, cooking and her family. She was a warm and caring woman who was devoted to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the many others whom she welcomed into her large and caring family over the years. She was a strong and vibrant soul who will be remembered by many for the love and community she always offered. Mrs. Prestwood was the rock on which her family was built.
Mrs. Prestwood was predeceased by a beloved child, Charles Stanley Prestwood; three sisters; and four brothers.
Mrs. Prestwood is survived by her brother, William Jamieson; her children, Susan Judd (Pat), Anita Anderson (Steven), James Robert Prestwood (Angela); and her grandchildren, William Stikeleather (Angela), Martin Stikeleather, Charles Benjamin Kale (Kristen), Brandi Glasspoole (Andrew), Jamee Prestwood (Megan), Emily Brooke Prestwood and Sarah Prestwood. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Henley Glasspoole, Parker Glasspoole, Afton Glasspoole, Charles Stanley Kale, Scarlett Kale, Caroline Margaret Prestwood and Sadie Prestwood.
