Rock Hill – George M. Booth 88, of Rock Hill, died on Saturday December 30, 2017 at Piedmont Medical Center with his wife and daughter by his side.
George was born in Fargo, ND on December 5, 1929 to Dr. Ernest G and Alta Booth. He was raised in St Paul, MN., with his Junior year of High School spent in Pine City, MN., and his senior year in Lansing, MI. He graduated from Macalester College with a BA in Economics and Political Science in 1952.He received his MA in Hospital and Health Management from the University of Minnesota, 1958. He worked in the hospital and nursing home industry primarily in CT for 39 years before retiring to Keowee Key on lake Keowee, in Oconee county SC. George was active in civic and church activities all his life, such as Lions, Kiwanis, Rotary and the Sierra Club. His passions were conservation, volunteering and outdoor activities.
He is predeceased by his parents and his sister Elizabeth Booth Scott, and a son Gregory John Booth. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan Hawley Booth, daughter Sharon Ann Booth, son David George Booth, 2 grand-daughters, Candra Bergeron(Tony) and Lisa Booth; 3 great grand-children, Mabel, Chip and Agnes Bergeron.
The memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, January 13, 2108 in the Community room at Park Point Village, 3025 Chesbrough Blvd, Rock Hill, SC 29732. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the organ fund of St John’s UMC of Rock Hill, SC or to the Park Point Village Samaritan Fund.
