ROCK HILL, SC – Mr. Gregory A. Shambor, 75, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Waterbury, CT on January 18, 1943, Gregory was the son of the late Anthony John Shambor and the late Modesta (Pawlowicz) Shambor. He was a U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force veteran, his first deployment being in Korea. He also served in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam conflict.
Greg enjoyed playing golf, going to the beach, gardening, traveling and listening to music. He also was a talented sketch and commercial artist. He was a man who enjoyed doing things for himself and his family; a “jack of all trades”. If it was broken, he usually was able to fix it in his own way. His most favorite hobby was meeting friends (old and new) and family over a meal or just a cup of coffee.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Nina Jenkins Shambor; his children, Gregory A. Shambor Jr., of Georgia, Denise Ann Shambor and Robert C. Shambor both of Rock Hill, SC; his siblings, Barbara Marcelynas, Anthony J. Shambor and Catherine Shambor, all of Waterbury, CT, Susan Houghton of Bethany, CT; eight grandchildren and three nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 20, 2018 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church with Father John Guiliani officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Shambor’s name to Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church, 292 Munn Rd, Ft. Mill, S.C. 29715.
