ROCK HILL – Mrs. Laurel Jackson Gaulden, 80, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at her home.
The funeral service will be 2pm on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Friendship United Methodist Church with Rev. James Gaulden officiating and Mr. Chad Sykes assisting. Burial will be in Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30-1:30pm.
Born in Rock Hill, Mrs. Gaulden was a daughter of the late Herbert Lee Jackson and the late Mae White Jackson. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Edgar Jackson; and her sisters, Dot Mitchum and Margaret Shugart. She was a member of First Assembly of God and she loved her Lord with all her heart. She was a homemaker, a wonderful wife, mother and friend.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Melvin Gaulden; her sons, Michael Gaulden (Carol) and Walter Gaulden (Peggy); her daughter, Gloria Smith (Kenneth); her grandchildren, Crystal Gaulden, Kevin Gaulden, Kathryn Sykes (Chad) and Heather Gaulden; her great-granddaughter, Lyla Sykes; her brothers, Carl Jackson, Odell Jackson, Floyd Jackson and Robert Jackson; and her sisters, Miriam Mitchum and Louise Strait.
Memorials may be made in Mrs. Gaulden’s name to Friendship United Methodist Church, 1200 Neely Store Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29730; or to Agape Hospice, 1326 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
