Anderson, SC – Mr. Max Neil Walker, 82, formerly of Rock Hill, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2108 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Max was born in Clover, SC and the son of the late Horace N. and Odessa Massey Walker. He was a graduate of Clover High School, attended Gardner-Webb University, and graduated of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Accounting. Max served in the U. S. Army as a Medic for two years. In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda Parrish Walker and his brother, Ray Walker.
After serving in several accounting positions, in 1966 Max moved back to Rock Hill and was a long-time member and Sunday School teacher at Woodhaven Baptist Church. He was a active softball player at Woodhaven Baptist Church. Max was an avid golfer who continued to play until two weeks before his death. Max served in the ministry program to inmates at the local jail in Anderson, SC along with his wife, Nedra and his stepson, Dr. Gregg Seymour.
Services will be held 2:30 pm, Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Woodhaven Baptist Church, 2060 Marrett Blvd., Rock Hill, SC with Dr. Tom Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 pm Tuesday at the church prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park – Cherry Road.
Max is survived by his wife, Nedra Thurmond Walker; his son, Randy Walker (Angela) of Alpharetta, GA; his step children, Dr. Gregg Seymour (Lystra) of Anderson, SC, Lori Seymour (Dennis) of Bowman, GA, and Dr. Clint Seymour (Julie) of Greenwood, SC; his sister, Faye Setzer (Ted) of Hickory, NC; and his seven grandchildren, Blake Walker, Logan Walker, Spencer Seymour, Emily Seymour, Shelby Seymour, Kash Seymour, and Sachin Seymour.
