Rock Hill – Norman Edward Leifried passed away peacefully at his home, Jan 30, 2018, in Rock Hill, SC. Norman was born July 22, 1943, in Beach Haven, New Jersey. His family moved to Miami in the late 50’s. He enlisted in U. S. Navy in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1967.
After Navel discharge, Norm attended 5 yrs. of HVAC apprenticeship school, and worked for York A/C Company. Over a course of 45yrs, he worked in a variety of positions within the HVAC industries. One of his favorite jobs after retirement was teaching HVAC repair at York Tech. community college.
Norm is preceded in death by his parents, Bunnell and Dorothy Leifried. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee (Harwood) Leifried; son, Creston (Caren) Leifried; Daughter, Carrie (Gregory) Hawbaker; sister, Janet Marks (Will); 5 grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Norm was an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was very active in the local Davis Island Fishing Foundation (DIFF) Club. He was also a member of the local Coin Club, and could be found most weekends holding court at the Red Barn Flea market. Norm had many friends, and enjoyed life immensely. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service for Norm will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 with Pastor Greg Martin officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at he funeral home.
