Rock Hill – Orlan Brook Todd, 92, formerly of Easton, MD, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 in Rock Hill, SC, where he had lived for the past 18 years.
Brook was born on March 28, 1926 in Easton, MD to the late Charles Orlan Todd and the late Mildred Virginia Brook Todd. He graduated from Easton High School in 1943, and was a charter member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Brook married Marie Hynson in 1962, and was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather.
Brook was a man of many talents, and in addition to a 35-year career with the U.S. Postal Service, from which he retired in 1981, he also worked as a professional photographer for many years. He had an affinity for electronics which led him to co-found Chesapeake Sound and Communications in the 1960’s. During this time, he discovered the world of amateur radio, received his license, and went on to win numerous operating awards. Brook was also a founding member, and the first President, of the Easton Amateur Radio Society, as well as a member of the York County Amateur Radio Society during his time in Rock Hill, SC.
Brook is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Marie Hynson Todd; two sons, Jeffrey Brook Todd (Jennifer) of Rock Hill, SC and Michael Hynson Todd (Colleen) of Winston-Salem, NC; four grandchildren, Ryan Jeffrey Todd (Andrea), Megan Coriell Todd, Alexander Michael Todd, and Cameron Michael Todd.
Brook’s memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC. Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home.
