York, SC – Perry L. “Mickey” Parrish, Sr. passed away Saturday December 29, 2018 at 89. Mickey was born December 20, 1929 in Rock Hill, SC.
Mickey is preceded in death by his parents, Hazel W. Parrish and Blanche H. Parrish, 2 sisters, Gloria P. Whitehurst and Margaret P. Bentley.
Mickey retired from the Rock Hill Fire Department as Captain after 30 years of service. He served as Captain and several other positions in Rock Hill Rescue Squad. Mickey taught basic firefighting to many local volunteer fire departments. Mickey was a Mason for over 50 years and was a member of Corinthian Masonic Lodge #416.
Mickey was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Lake Wylie, SC where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Director, usher, choir member and served on several committees.
After retiring from the City of Rock Hill, Mickey worked part time for Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Sherer Dental Lab.
Services for Mickey will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill with Reverend Steve Kirby officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 pm, Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at the funeral home and other times at the home of his son, Laddie Parrish.
Mickey is survived by his wife, Clara Lyons Parrish, a daughter, Peggy P. Fox and her husband, Stephen L. Fox, a son, Perry L. “Laddie” Parrish and his wife, Wanda T. Parrish, a grandson, Perry L. “Trey” Parrish, III and his wife Emily H. Parrish, a granddaughter, Casey P. Shuler and her husband Elbert B. “Trey” Shuler, 4 great grandchildren, Jeb W. Parrish, Mae K. Parrish, Caroline L. Shuler and Everett B. Shuler; and one brother, Ronald L. Parrish.
