Rock Hill, SC – Mrs. Sue Greene Walters, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Piedmont Medical Center.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, January 5, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel with Rev. Dr. Ron Richardson and Rev. Dr. Charlie Wallace officiating.   A private family burial will be held prior to the service. Visitation will be held following the service at the funeral home, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Mrs. Walters was a native of Rock Hill and the daughter of the late Toy Howard and Ruby Faulkenberry Greene.  She was a member of Catawba Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school teacher of the Sr. Ladies Sunday School Class.  She retired from Greene Funeral Home where she worked alongside her parents and her two brothers for over 20 years as the bookkeeper.  Mrs. Walters formerly served on the City of Rock Hill Parks and Recreation Commission.  She was an avid Gamecock fan and enjoyed gardening, singing and playing the piano and organ.  She was the widow of Charles N. “Buck” Walters.

Mrs. Walters is survived by her daughters, Charlene Walters Wallace (Ron) of Columbia; Cindy Walters Slagle (Lanny) of Rock Hill; her son, Charles Norman Walters II (Elaine) of Charlotte; 12 grandchildren, Lauren Wallace Albright (Scott), Charles Adam Wallace (Emily), Lanette Slagle Thrower, Emily Slagle Jackson, Melinda Slagle Compton (Jonathan), Charles Norman Walters III (Jessica), Elizabeth Walters Moore (Adam), Christopher Cooley Walters (Jenna), Jonathan Keith Walters (Stephanie), Lindsey Elaine Walters, Timothy Henderson (English) and Christopher Matthew Smith (Jenna); 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and her special friend, Royce Goodwin.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Walters Smith and her brothers, Donald B. Greene and Howard “Buddy” Greene.
