Jo Anne Koons, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished partner, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, at her home in Rock Hill, South Carolina, surrounded by her devoted family. She was born on June 10, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Russell “Pete” and Rosemary Shorkey.

Jo Anne was a radiant spirit who touched the lives of all who knew her. She is survived by her special partner, John Everett, who brought joy to her life in the years following the passing of her beloved husband, Karl Koons III. Jo Anne’s legacy will live on through her two daughters, Laurie Lachimia (Daniel) of York, SC, and Kristen Barrick (Douglas) of Duncannon, PA; her two sisters, Patricia Schroeder (Paul) and Kathy Ott (Mel, deceased), as well as her six grandchildren: Daniel Lachimia, Vincent Lachimia (Angelica), Cassidy Lachimia, Tori Nash (Joshua), Emily Barrick, and Samuel Barrick. Jo Anne also had the joy of being a great-grandmother to seven precious great-grandchildren, who were the lights of her life.

Jo Anne was a woman of many interests and passions. She loved traveling and creating memories with her family, always eager for the next adventure. Her enthusiasm for quilting, antiquing, and attending craft shows was a reflection of her creative spirit. She cherished the moments spent with her loved ones, and her laughter and warmth will be deeply missed.

Throughout her life, Jo Anne demonstrated a remarkable sense of kindness and compassion.
