Mary Ann Hartness Harris, 88, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025.
Born in York, SC on October 13, 1937, Mary was the daughter of the late William Boyd Hartness and the late Maybell Porter Hartness. Mary is preceded in death by her late husband, Luther Morgan Harris; her brother’s, Clarence Rodney Hartness, Walter William Hartness, Billy Mason Hartness; her sister, Daisy Elizabeth Hartness; her sons, Bobby Joe Smith, Donald Wayne Smith Sr., and Richard Glenn Smith, as well as three step children, Bruce Harris, Wayne Harris, and Deborah Smith.
Mary was a stay at home mother that raised 6 children and took care of her father until his passing. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a passion for planting and growing different varieties of rose bushes.
Mary is survived by her children, Terry Michael Smith, Teresa Smith Parrish, and Kenneth Wayne Laney Sr.; her grandsons, Robert Paul Corder (Mackenzie), William Boyd Corder (Brooke), Anthony Smith, Donald Wayne Smith Jr., Thomas Hawk Smith, Kenneth Wayne Laney Jr., Knoah Paul Laney, Darryl McGraw, her granddaughters, Katie Ann Laney, Kenzie Laney Harris, Amanda McGraw and 15 great grandchildren 4 great-great grandchildren.
Family will welcome friends on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd. Rock Hill, SC 29732. A graveside service with Pastor Daniel Hopper officiating, will take place the following day at Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church at 3:00PM.
At other times any visitors are welcome to her daughter’s residence, Teresa Smith Parrish in Rock Hill, SC
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary’s name to the Humane Society of York County.
