Ethel Louise Biggers, 90, of York, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on November 3, 2025, surrounded by family who cherished her deeply. Born with a gentle spirit and a joyful heart, Louise lived a life rich in music, friendship, and family.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:50 pm on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. A celebration of Louise’s life will be held at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens, 700 Heckle Blvd., Rock Hill, SC 29730.
Born in Shelton, SC, Louise was the daughter of the late M.P. Harmon and the late Perrine Parkman Harmon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Laudus McGill Biggers, and her brother, James Irby Harmon.
A proud graduate of Rock Hill High School’s Class of 1953, Louise was a member of the school’s band. Her musical journey continued at Winthrop College, where she played in the college band while pursuing her studies in the College of Commerce. That foundation led to a fulfilling 31-year career as a Supervisor at Smith Enterprises, where her dedication and leadership left a lasting mark.
Louise’s love of music began early, learning piano from her mother and later lending her voice to the church choir. But it was on the dance floor where she truly came alive—square dancing with friends and lighting up every room with her laughter and rhythm. Her social calendar was always full, and her warmth made everyone feel welcome. Friends knew her as kind, thoughtful, and always ready to cheer on the USC Gamecocks.
A natural storyteller, Louise cherished the past and kept it alive for future generations. She could recount childhood memories and family vacations with vivid detail, and she proudly shared her photo albums—each one a treasure trove of family history. Whether it was a trip to the World Series, Disney World, or the beaches of Hawaii, Louise captured it all with joy and precision. She was the family’s historian, curator, and keeper of legacy.
Louise’s life was a beautiful blend of tradition and celebration. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty—a reminder to cherish the little moments, dance when you can, and always remember where you came from.
Louise is survived by her son, Bill Biggers(Wendy) of Concord, NC; her daughter Barbara Ptaszek(Steven); her grandchildren, Dustin Ptaszek and Ashlyn Ptaszek all of York, SC; her sisters, Mary Claire Wallace and Martha Carpenter of Rock Hill, SC; and countless friends who became like family.
