In Loving Memory of Michael Allen Thomas
October 4,1961 – December 9, 2025

With full and grateful hearts, we celebrate the life of Michael Allen Thomas, a beloved husband, devoted father, proud G-Mike, and steadfast friend. At 64 years old, Mike left this world on December 9, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love that will forever echo in the lives of those he cherished. He was the son of the late Johnny Harold and Laura McKinney Thomas.

A memorial service to honor his life will be held Tuesday, December 16 at 11:00 am at New Hope Methodist Church, 2149 West Chester School Road, Chester, SC led by Rev. Chris Snelgrove.  Those wishing to visit with the family may do so following the service in the church social hall and at other times at the home.

To his wife, Lori James Thomas, Mike was the truest partner—steady, loyal, and endlessly supportive. His deep and unwavering love formed the foundation of a life built on trust, laughter, and shared dreams. He made loving him easy, and being loved by him a blessing.

As a father, he embraced a wonderfully full and blended family with an open heart. He is survived by his children David Josh Gilliam, James Gilliam (Summer), Ashleyanne Murray (Garrett), Jake Gilliam (Britanie), Triston Thomas, and his bonus son Robert McCoy. Mike loved each of them fiercely and equally, offering guidance, encouragement, and a sense of home wherever he was.

His joy only grew with his grandchildren—LJ, Laci, Gunner, Addie, Rylan, Cam, Kenlie, and Kallie—who brought light to his days and pride to his smile. To them, he was not just a grandfather, but a hero, a playmate, and a source of boundless affection.

He shared a special bond with his sister, Anne Thomas Grant (Stewart), his father in law, Larry James, his brother in laws, Joe James (Lori) and Brian James (Jessica), and his lifelong friend, Ronnie Autry (Tammy).

Mike found happiness in the simple pleasures that reflected who he was. He loved the rumble of his Corvette, the timeless rhythm of baseball, and precious moments with family—whether at the beach soaking in the sun or in the peaceful quiet of the country. More than anything, he simply wanted his family around him. Their presence was his greatest comfort, his greatest joy.

Mike lived with a heart wide open. He welcomed everyone, judged no one, and created a sense of belonging wherever he went. His capacity to love—fully, freely, and without hesitation—will remain his greatest legacy.

Though our hearts ache with his passing, we hold tightly to the memories that remind us of his laughter, his kindness, and the love he so generously gave. Mike’s story continues in each life he touched, and his spirit will forever guide those who had the honor of calling him theirs.

His story is not over—because he lives on in us.
