With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Richard Edward Locklair, who left us peacefully on January 3, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on August 16, 1934, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Richard was a beloved son of William and Ruth Locklair. He lived a life full of love, family, and friendship, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Richard was a lifelong resident of Rock Hill, where he cultivated deep roots in the community and formed cherished relationships. Throughout his years, he was recognized for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering support to his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Locklair, who was his partner and confidante throughout their journey together.
Richard is survived by his devoted children, Mike Locklair and Robin Locklair, who carry forward his legacy of love. He was a proud grandfather, adored by his grandchildren Jamie Little (Christy), Todd Simpson (Diane), Mikie Little (Mary), Michelle Boyd (Darrell), and Robert Evans (Travis). His love extended to his great-grandchildren, who brightened his later years: Jordan Little, Gracie Little, Brandon Little, Bailey Little, Leelan Little, Taylor Simpson, Caleb Simpson, Jase Simpson, Carter Simpson, Wyatt Simpson, Jordan Boyd, Katie Jordan, Lindsay Simpson, and Allie Evans. Additionally, Richard found joy in the embrace of five great-great-grandchildren, who will forever remember their great-grandfather’s gentle spirit.
Richard was also blessed with a loyal and devoted friend, Glenda Clyburn, whose companionship brought him much joy in his later years. He shared a special bond with his brother, Bobby Locklair (Joanne), of Cowpens, SC, further enriching the tapestry of his family life.
The Locklair family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Richard’s extraordinary life. The family will receive visitors prior to the Celebration of Life service on January 9, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM. The service will take place at Unity at Calvary Church of God, located at 550 Hollis Lakes Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732, commencing at 2:00 PM.
In his life, Richard exemplified the values of family, friendship, and community. He touched many lives with his kindness and generosity, leaving behind a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of those he cherished. The family extends their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time and looks forward to honoring Richard’s memory together.
