Mr. James Marine Boan, age 78, of Rock Hill, SC passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife and family on Saturday, January 10th, 2026.
James grew up in Fort Mill, SC, the son of the late J.D. and Doris Boan McCarty. He attended Fort Mill High School, and at the age of 17, left school to join the US Military where he later became part of the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam, receiving numerous medals, including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Returning home, James married his lovely wife, Diane. He continued his education at York Tech, then joined the United States Postal Service where he retired from after 30 years.
James is survived by his wife Diane, daughter Gina, son Jason, 2 grandsons, Luke, and Zack, and 2 great grandsons. He is also survived by one sister, Myra Peterson. He is preceded in death by is father and mother, 2 brothers, Phil, and Ted, and 2 sisters, Bertie, and Pam.
James was a loving husband, and a kind father and grandfather. He was also a giving person who helped others in times of need. He was a faithful servant of the Heath Memorial United Methodist Church for over 25 years. His smile and gentle ways will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14th at 1pm at Heath Memorial Methodist Church, with the service following at 2pm. 3781 Lando Rd, Lando, SC 29729
