Roger D. Crump, 78, passed away on January 10, 2026. He was born on September 11, 1947, to the late Paul Crump and Viola Elliott Crump.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his son, Dale Durham, and his siblings, David Crump and Mary Bailey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Peggy Crump; his daughter, April Hunter (John); his brother, Tommy Crump; his grandchildren, Dillion Hunter (Amy) of Goose Creek SC, Colton Hunter of Catawba SC and Chris Durham of Kansas and his great-grandchild, Jensen Hunter of Goose Creek SC.
He was a truck driver for most of his career. He worked for Winn-Dixie until they officially closed in the Charlotte area in 2005. He immediately went to work for Carolina Rebar in Rock Hill until he retired in 2012. Once he retired, he joined the Charlotte Avenue YMCA where he spent much of his time and made lots of friends.
In his younger years he loved lifting weights and wrestling. No one could keep up with “Bulldog” Crump. He also had a love for landscaping in his yard. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved his dog friends Gracie, Baby and Buddy and spent much of his time with them.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, 355 E. White Street, Rock Hill, SC 29730. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Roger Crump’s name to the Charlotte Avenue YMCA, 402 Charlotte Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730, or the Humane Society of York County, 8177 Regent Parkway, Fort Mill, SC 29715.
