Rock Hill, SC – Mrs. Betty G. McCorkle, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Rowan County, NC, Betty was the daughter of the late Henry Neal Goodnight and Ida Melinda Goodnight. A woman of deep faith and community spirit, she was a longtime, active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where she lent her voice to the choir and served with the United Methodist Women. After a dedicated career, she retired from the Rock Hill Telephone Company. Most recently, she brought joy to her fellow residents at Brookdale Senior Living, where she led crochet classes, participated in Bible studies and crafts, and occasionally shared her talent through vocal solos.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold L. McCorkle, and her seven brothers and sisters. Her legacy of love continues through her three daughters, Judy McCorkle Hough (John Martin), Nancy McCorkle Greene (Walt), and Mindy McCorkle (Todd Carnes). She was a cherished grandmother to 13 grandchildren (including spouses), 11 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, SC 29732 on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. A second visitation will be held at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in China Grove, NC on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM, followed by a private family graveside service.
