Heaven gained another beautiful angel when Shirley M. Taylor, 75, of Rock Hill, SC passed into her eternal home on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
Born September 6, 1950, she was the daughter of Albert and Katie Rainey. She was a Godly loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Shirley worked her earlier years as custodian to the Rock Hill School District as well as caring for the elderly at Walker’s residential care home. Though retired for many years, she enjoyed bingo with her friends, taking her daily walks, shopping, and frequenting her favorite restaurants. She loved reading her Bible and was a powerful prayer warrior. She was a social butterfly who never met a stranger and had a genuine love for people. She was such a joy to anyone blessed to know her.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by her children, Jennifer Herring (Terry) and Kathy Cartagena (Tony) and Janet Garrett (her daily aide who was like a daughter. Her sisters, Joann Mack (Allen) Frances Mims, Gloria Bundrick; her grandchildren, Madison Rhodes, Erica Kennedy and Sherry Sweatt (Gavin).
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sisters, Diane McAteer and Diane Thrower.
A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Shirley Taylor at 4:00PM on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Faith Family Christian Center, 3483 Homestead Road, Rock Hill, SC, 29732, with Pastor Larry Williams, officiating. The family will also welcome visitors at the church prior to the service on Saturday, beginning at 2:30PM.
