Tega Cay, SC – Melinda’s life journey was completed on February 11, 2026, when she passed peacefully in her sleep from heart failure. Melinda was the wife of Edgar Dudley Greene III, Tega Cay, SC, and the mother of Sara Maple Greene, Chicago, IL, and Elizabeth Carson Greene, Boone, NC.
Melinda was born on December 19, 1969 to William and Glenda Mallard in Augusta, GA. She grew up in Evans, GA and graduated from Evans High School in the Class of 1987. She attended Georgia Tech receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering. She worked for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Atlanta, GA for 13 years, first as a co-op student and then as an environmental engineer. She won gold and bronze medals for exceptional service at EPA. Most recently, she was working as a senior specialist and technical manager of environmental compliance at Michael Baker International.
Melinda was the faithful and loving wife to Dudley, whom she married in 1995. As a devoted and creative mother to Sara and Liz, she took eight years off from work to focus on raising them. In addition, she was a beloved and caring daughter of Glenda and Bill.
Melinda and her family lived in Tega Cay, SC for 12 years. She loved her time at the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour and was very active in the community.
She served on the Board of the Episcopal Day School, helped with Vacation Bible School, and Episcopal Kids Group (“EKG”). Being involved alongside her daughters in swimming activities was very important to her, beginning with the Rock Hill Country Club Dolphins swim team, and later with the Upper Palmetto YMCA swim team, Fort Mill High School, and University of Richmond swim teams.
Regards from her colleagues at Michael Baker International:
“Melinda was a gifted leader, mentor, and connector of people whose warmth, integrity, and confidence left a lasting impression on everyone she worked with. She took great pride in building strong teams, supporting the growth of others, and forming meaningful relationships rooted in trust and respect. Melinda’s ability to bring people together—across disciplines, offices, and experiences—was one of her greatest strengths. Her legacy lives on in the colleagues she inspired, the careers she helped shape and the many lives she touched through her generosity of spirit and leadership.”
Regards from her family:
“She was the best of us. Melinda was a kind and supportive friend to many relatives, friends, and colleagues. She was an adventurous, intelligent, and thoughtful spouse who perfectly complimented her husband, Dudley, and a selfless mother who always put her daughters first. Melinda was a devoted daughter who could always be counted on to step up when needed. She was the glue that held everyone together. Melinda excelled as a hostess on holidays and special occasions to bring joy to all who attended. She was incredible at solving puzzles and approached every challenge with a sound and steady mind. Her unexpected passing leaves a huge hole in all our lives. Her strength, good judgment, and loving manner live on in Sara and Liz. We all have been blessed by her love and she inspires us to live better lives.”
Services will be held at The Episcopal Church of Our Savior, 144 Caldwell Street Rock Hill, South Carolina 29730, on Tuesday, February 17th at 2pm. Her family plans to have burial service in the mountains of North Carolina in the spring. Donations can be made in her memory to the American Heart Association.
