Joseph Carey “JC” Burris, a cherished husband, devoted family member, and steadfast friend, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2026.

Born on February 26, 1944, in Brunswick, GA, JC’s life was a testament to warmth, dedication, and an enduring love for life’s simple pleasures. The beloved son of TC Burris and Mae Iris Aldridge Burris, Bubba was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Charles Burris, Wendall Burris, and Kathy Faye.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Josie (Hudspeth), and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever remember their Uncle JC’s gentle spirit and infectious laughter.

After graduating high school, JC enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country with honor from 1962 to 1964. It was during these formative years that he developed a strong sense of duty and camaraderie that would guide him throughout his life. During his military service, Bubba pursued his education, earning an associate’s degree and embarking on a career as a skilled welder in industrial construction. His expertise and dedication shone brightly during his tenure with Daniel’s Construction in Rock Hill, SC, and his years at Duke Power.

JC was a man of deep faith and fellowship, finding community as a member of Antioch Methodist Church in Rock Hill, SC. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life, as evidenced by his active involvement as a longtime member of his local Masonic Lodge and the Shriners International, where he made lifelong friends and contributed to charitable endeavors.

A man of many interests, JC found joy in the roar of NASCAR engines and the serenity of a golf course. Whether attending races or enjoying them from the comfort of his home, his enthusiasm was boundless. His love for his furry companions, Road Runner, Bandit, and especially Mattie, was a testament to his compassionate nature and tender heart.

In keeping with his wishes, JC’s family will honor his memory through intimate family gatherings and the enduring support of friends. They request that memorial donations be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital at donate.shrinerschildrens.org, or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at stjude.org, organizations close to JC’s heart.

As we remember Joseph Carey “JC” Burris, let us celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering loyalty. Though he will be dearly missed, his spirit endures in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
