Richard Bernard (Dick) Bush, 84, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026 at Wayne T Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, surrounded by family. He was born on December 19, 1941 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Raymond and Genevieve Bush.

Dick was raised in Pittsburgh where he graduated in 1959 from South Hills High School in Pittsburgh. He served in the US Army for 3 years, was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany with Special Troops US Army Europe. After an honorable discharge from the Army, Dick utilized the GI Bill and attended the University of Pittsburgh, graduating with a degree in chemical engineering in 1970. He worked at Firestone Tire in Pottstown, PA out of college. He began working for General Electric in Waterford, NY in 1972. In 1992 the family relocated to Rock Hill, SC where he took a job with Rhodia until his retirement in 2006.

Whether it be puzzles or jobs around the house, there wasn’t a job he wouldn’t tackle. He loved reading, gardening, and working outdoors. He was the family fix it man and enjoyed solving those problems. Ultimately, it was his top priority to support and love his family and he did so through these acts of service.

Faith played a defining role in Dick’s life. He loved the Lord and serving people. Throughout his life, he served faithfully in both leadership and volunteer roles in his parishes in Pennsylvania, New York, and South Carolina.

Dick is survived by his wife of 58 years, Therese Marm Bush, whom he married on December 30, 1967. Besides his wife, Dick is survived by four children: Matthew (Nancy) Bush of Fort Mill, Chris (Leanna) Bush of Rock Hill, Nathan (Lali) Bush of Rock Hill, and Rebecca (Bob) Allison of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren: Samuel Bush, Maggie Bush of Rock Hill, SC, Meredith Bush of Fort Mill, SC and Martin Bush of Rock Hill, SC; and 5 siblings: Nancy Titov of Pittsburgh, Bobby (Sylvia) Bush of Pittsburgh, Naomi Kiser, Russell (Patti) Bush of Pittsburgh, Kathy Bush of Pittsburgh and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Genevieve Bush, and a younger brother, Ronnie Bush.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Father John Giuliani on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 12:00pm at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 292 Munn Road E, Fort Mill, SC 29715. The service will be live-streamed at http//boxcast.tv/channel/it5pks2xxbbjugsgspo.
