Ginny was a beloved and devoted grandmother, mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend during her incredible 77 years of life. She passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026.
Born to the late Mildred Louise and John Luther Kirk in Monroe, NC on October 26, 1948, Ginny spent her early years in Waxhaw, NC with her brother, Monty Kirk (Debbie) and her late sisters, Donna Kirk Adams and Anne Kirk Wallace (Bill).
Ginny spent many years working alongside her husband, Ned, managing his real estate and insurance businesses.
What a pair they made! Married for 59 years, they embodied true love, sharing a life rooted in faith and steadfast commitment. Their bond was a beautiful example to all who knew them – a quiet, constant love that grew stronger every year. Ginny was a wonderful caretaker and partner to Ned through the years; their devotion never wavered.
Ginny was a sweet soul who brought warmth, kindness, and laughter to everyone she met. She will be remembered for her kind spirit, faith, and abiding love for her family.
Ginny has two children, Tammy Miles (Mark) and Ned Polk, Jr. (Tammy), but the light of her life was always her granddaughters, Emma Polk Tinker (Travis), Amelia Miles (Julian), Isabel Miles Johnson (Wynn) and Kimberley Polk. She was reunited in heaven with her granddaughter, Alexa McKinley Miles.
She endured trials and tribulations and more pain than any human could almost possibly stand. She had a will to live like no other. It is often said that Ginny had more than 9 lives! In fact, we think she surpassed 20! In all of her many hospital stays, she was the kindest patient, always engaging with every staff member and especially making friends with the food service team so that she could get the extras she wanted.
In addition to her immediate family, Ginny had many nieces, nephews and friends that she is leaving behind. But she knew that one day she will be reunited with all of us on the other side. A woman of strength and grace, she showed us how to live fully, love deeply, and never give up. Ginny will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
