Marietta Starnes Morrison, 88, of Clover, SC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 27, 2026.  Marietta will be remembered for her strong faith in the Lord, her warm smile and her gentle kindness.

Born August 30, 1937 in Baltimore, MD, Marietta was active in the church all of her life.  Besides her participation in the Episcopal Church, Marietta and her husband Jack, were known for their interest in Scottish history and ancestry.  They were members in not only the Clan Morrison Society of North America but also the Scottish Society of the Waxhaws.  Additionally Marietta was involved with the Kings Mountain chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and she participated in the DAR’s Quilts of Honor program.

Marietta was passionate about working with students.  She  graduated from Winthrop University with a Masters degree in Psychology. After receiving her degree, she went to work in the Horry County School system as a guidance counselor for over 20 years retiring in 2005.

Marietta was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John C. Morrison Jr., her Parents, Edison Starnes and Mary Starnes, and her brother Mark Starnes. She is survived by her sister Darlene Krawiec of Heath Springs, SC;  three children, Jim Stanley and his wife Sherry of Myrtle Beach, SC, Chris Stanley of Roanoke VA, and Doug Morrison and his wife Darla of Myrtle Beach, SC; and four stepchildren, John C. Morrison III and his wife Anita of Brownsburg, IN, Robert Morrison and his wife Mary of Rock Hill, SC,  Corinne Brittle and her husband George of Moncks Corner, SC, Marilyn Morrison of Fort Myers FL,  and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 108 E Liberty St, York, SC 29745 on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 11:00 am followed by a reception.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Church of the Good Shepherd.  Donations may be mailed to The Church of the Good Shepherd, PO Box 437, York, SC 29745.   Condolences may be made at Marietta Starnes Morrison | Greene Funeral Home
