Nelson Cook Simonson passed away on March 27, 2026, at the age of 72. Nelson was preceded in death by his father, Nelson Conrad Simonson.
He is survived by his wife, Janet (Struble) Simonson, daughters Denise Provencher and Kim Clatterbuck, his mother, Caroline (Davis) Simonson, his siblings: Fern, Shirley, Roy, and Thomas. Nelson leaves behind five grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Nelson graduated from George C. Marshall High School in Falls Church, Virginia. He subsequently enlisted in the Army, where he learned Russian Technical Translating. He became fluent in German while serving overseas.
Nelson attended The Pennsylvania State University where his academic journey included several semesters of study in Germany. After graduating from Penn State with an MBA, he worked as a consultant for Price Waterhouse, MCI Systemhouse, EDS and HP before retiring.
Nelson enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was active in cycling and racquetball. He also spent time woodworking, reading, and savoring German beer.
