On the morning of Sunday, March 29th, in the comfort of her home, and in the presence of her husband of 74 years, Joseph and her daughter, Brenda, Mary L. Dzielski took her last breaths and began her journey to be with the Lord.
Mary was born to Harry W. and Della L. (Turner) Trump on March 3rd, 1935 in Sharon, PA. She married the love of her life, Joseph J. Dzielski on January 14th, 1952, soon taking on the role of Marine Corps Wife, traveling from base to base as her husband was transferred to new duty stations from one side of the country to the other, including Hawaii. During her time in San Diego, Mary worked with Father Leo Davis to convert to Catholicism. Mary would go on to teach CCD classes.
Mary was a very proud Marine Corps Officer’s Wife, supporting her husband’s career and fulfilling all the demands and requirements in that role as well. When her husband was deployed overseas, both in wartime and in peace, she raised their 3 children. In addition, Mary worked many part time retail jobs including Sears, Roebuck & Co, Kmart, and Avon. She was a ceramics hobbyist, her favorite creations being The Pieta and a bust of Jesus. Mary loved to practice yoga to Richard Hittleman’s tapes and exercising along with Jack Lalanne. She loved to spend her spare time sewing, knitting, crocheting, and making clothes for her children. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, because to her, home was truly where the heart was. She was known for her kindness and her smile.
After Joseph separated from the USMC, they moved to Parsippany, NJ where they lived for forty years. Five years ago, they moved to Fort Mill to rejoin most of their family. Mary enjoyed watching action movies and “Walker, Texas Ranger.” Family and friends always knew not to call Mary between 12:30-1:30pm, because her favorite soap opera, “The Young and The Restless.” was on. The one role Mary adored the most was being Grandma to her 4 grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and spoiling them. It was understood that “what happens at Grandma’s, stays at Grandma’s!”
Mary leaves behind her beloved family, husband Joseph, daughter Brenda (Bob) Matthias, Monroe, NC sons Philip Hackettstown, NJ and Erik Dzielski, Charlotte, NC, her dear grandchildren, Emily and Matthew (Nicole) Dzielski, and Courtney and Brad Matthias. She also leaves her dear sister Jean Goodheart and brother Robert Trump, Godson Josh Capouellez, plus numerous Nieces and Nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents, sisters Edith “Edie” White, Shirley Pirie, Edna Swisher, brother Harry Trump, Jr., and her Godson Terry Bondarenko.
There will be a private viewing for the family, with interment following in Quantico National Cemetery in Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the charity of your choice.”
