Our beloved Poppy, Grandpoppy, brother, uncle, and friend, Michael Cash, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
Michael Cash, known for his love of Harleys, Mustangs, airplanes, dogs, and hot sauce, was born in Austria and adopted by Bob and Anna Cash, the first of their children together. Michael dedicated 42 years of his career as an airplane mechanic, working for Piedmont Airlines, PSA Airlines, and US Airways before retiring from American Airlines. He loved working with his hands and took great pride in fixing things.
A longtime bachelor, Michael met the love of his life, Maggie in San Diego, California in 1987. In marrying Maggie, he not only gained a wife but embraced an instant family, including her daughter Margarite and mother‑in‑law Margarita — something he often joked he never expected. Michael and Maggie shared a love of long Harley rides and “fly and ride” trips across the United States. Maggie passed away in 2004 after a long battle with cancer, and Michael’s heart was broken. He never remarried.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Anna Cash; his beloved wife, Maggie Cash; his brothers, Phillip and Frank; his sister, Pat; his niece Tina and nephew Ronnie.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving daughter, Margarite Zettervall; his grandchildren, Maggie and Jake Zettervall; his sisters, Karen Napalitano (Bill) and Debbie Cash; nieces Julie, Jennifer, Jessica, Rachel, Wendy, Bonnie, Sherry and Vickie; nephews Frankie, and Michael, his namesake. He was an amazing husband, Poppy, Grandpoppy, brother, uncle, and friend who will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Michael’s family would be most grateful for donations made in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
May Michael and Maggie be reunited on an endless Harley ride in Heaven.
