Dennis Lavern Goins, born February 2, 1958, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, to Willie Edward Goins and Alice Maxine Goins, passed away on March 29, 2026, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill. He was a resident of Woodruff, South Carolina.

Dennis was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and father whose life was centered around family, laughter, and the simple moments that mattered most. He was raised in the Arcade Mills community alongside his siblings—Eddie, Terry, Gerald, Geraldine, and Earl—where he built lifelong bonds and cherished memories.

As a boy, Dennis loved fishing with his father and brothers and playing softball with his siblings at Arcade Park. Those early days shaped his deep love for family and togetherness. He attended York Middle School and was known for his playful and mischievous spirit—often picking fights with girls at school and then calling on his sister Geraldine to finish them for him, a story that brought laughter for years.

Throughout his life, Dennis worked in construction, the textile industry, and at a sawmill. It was there he discovered a talent for woodworking, creating a beautiful jewelry box for his eldest daughter, Crystal—a piece he was especially proud of and one that symbolized his love and craftsmanship.

Above all, Dennis’s greatest pride and accomplishment were his four children: Crystal Ivester, Dennis Lee Goins, Jennifer Goins, and Ryan Goins. He was also a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and his love will continue to live on through them.

Dennis will be remembered for his humor, his kindness, and his unmistakable personality. At family gatherings, he was often the first to unbutton his shirt and let his belly hang out—a running family joke that perfectly captured his carefree nature and ability to make everyone smile. He had a soft spot for stray cats, never met one he didn’t try to keep, and never met a friend he wouldn’t go out of his way to help.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Edward Goins and Alice Maxine Goins; his grandmother, Elizabeth Louise Rosecoe; his great-grandchild, Elyjah Proctor; his nieces, Kristi Nichole Hinson and Mary Michelle McAlister; and his great-nephew, Aiden Zachary Anderko.

He is survived by his children, Crystal Ivester, Dennis Lee Goins, Jennifer Goins, and Ryan Goins; his siblings, Sydney Edward Goins, Terry Wayne Goins, Gerald Thomas Goins, Dorothy Geraldine Russell, and Earl Eugene Goins; as well as his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.

A memorial service to honor Dennis’s life will be held on Friday April 3, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Greene’s Funeral Home.

Dennis’s life was one of love, laughter, and quiet generosity. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved by all who knew him.
