Mittie Lee Borden, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, at the age of 76. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments.
Mittie was born on April 15, 1950, in the quaint town of Pageland, South Carolina, to the late Arthur Michael and Anna Geretha Crowder Michael. Her life was a testament to love, dedication, and faith, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mittie’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of family, faith, and community. She was the cherished wife of Henry Borden, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage, raising four wonderful children together: Natasha Quick, Kochshina Borden, Deborah Borden, and David Borden. Their marriage was a beacon of love and partnership, and their home was always filled with warmth and laughter.
A devoted sister to her surviving siblings Margaret Vail, Nancy Borden, and William Michael, Mittie’s family roots were strong and deep. She delighted in her role as a grandmother to Keith Quick Jr, Jasmine Quick, Nikinia Borden, Natasha Rouse, Jamie Lashay Riley, Jamane William Riley Jr, Indya-ShiAnne Leigh Borden, Annette Mittie Borden, Davita Marion Borden, David King Mushasha Borden, and Lydia Shema Borden, and was further blessed with ten great-grandchildren who adored her immensely.
Throughout her career, Mittie served in customer service within the textile industry, where she was known for her unwavering dedication and kindness. Her colleagues and customers alike appreciated her warm demeanor and her ability to make everyone feel valued and heard.
For over 53 years, Mittie was a faithful Jehovah’s Witness, dedicating herself to her faith and community. Her spiritual strength and commitment were an inspiration to her congregation and family, reflecting her profound love and devotion to her beliefs.
Mittie was the heart and soul of her family, known widely for her exceptional culinary skills. Her fried chicken, fried fish, and macaroni and cheese were legendary, drawing family and friends together with the promise of good food and cherished memories. The kitchen was her domain, where she poured her love into every dish, creating a legacy of flavors that will be remembered for generations.
Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, Mittie will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will forever guide those who knew and loved her.
The family is currently making memorial plans, which will be announced at a later date. They extend their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
