Warren Troy Christie, 64, crossed over into his Eternal Heavenly rest at his childhood home on Tuesday, April 21 where he and his brother resided.
Troy was born on Sunday, September 3, 1961 to Mark Abney and the late Rebecca Sexton Christie. He was the second of three children.
As a little boy, Troy was mischievous. He loved picking on his brother and sister but in a fun-loving way. He was indeed rambunctious. Again, his brother and sister were the usual victims along with friends of his over-the-top personality. He loved sports and other physical activities resulting in broken bones as he was accident prone. His Mom was always worrying about what he was going to break next.
Troy was industrious. He loved to work. As a child, he had his own newspaper route. He was a student bus driver. From an early age, he loved tinkering with cars with his Dad in the backyard shop. His love of working on cars continued into adulthood. He spent many hours at a friend’s local car repair shop doing whatever chores he could find. As an adult, he worked for many years at Frito Lay. He worked security for the Panthers and was a wreaker truck driver.
Troy was a Christian. He knew the Bible well and could memorize Scriptures very easily. He loved Jesus. He enjoyed watching various religious programs on TV. However, Troy struggled with addiction and bipolar disorder. This resulted in a sometimes-tumultuous life. It gives his loved ones comfort knowing that he is now free from these earthly struggles, and he has found the peace that eluded him in this life. “Come unto me, all ye who labour, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 KJV) He is safely home now in Heaven with his Savior and reunited with his mother and grandparents.
Troy was predeceased by his mother, Rebecca Sexton Christie; his maternal grandparents, David and Beulah Sexton; his paternal grandparents, Mark and Gladys Christie; and aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his daughter, Amy (Jeff) Onley; his grandson born on April 18, 2026, Cooper Mason Onley; his father, Mark Abney (Sylvia) Christie, Jr.; his brother, Tony Christie; and his sister, Terri Collins. He is also survived by his nephew, Andy (Morgan) Collins and their children, Gracie and Connor. He is survived by an uncle, aunts, and many cousins.
All services will be private.
