Rodney “Rod” Deason, 67, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.
Rodney Deason was born on October 23, 1958, to William Boyce Deason, Jr. and Annie Price Deason, in Rock Hill, SC. After growing up in Rock Hill, Mr. Deason graduated from Northwestern High School as a member of the Class of 1977. From a young age, Mr. Deason worked as a millwright mechanic in industrial maintenance. After working for various companies, he started his own business. He served as a mentor to many of those he worked with over the years and formed life-long friendships for himself and others. Mr. Deason was very selfless and giving. He was always willing to give people a second chance and put others first. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Local #831 (Union) and a past member of Masonic Lodge 54 in Fort Mill and Shriners Catawba Lodge 56. Mr. Deason lived life his way and lived it to the fullest. Above all else, he loved his family. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his mother Annie Price Deason; children, Benjamin Deason (Dana), Sarah Deason, and Jacob Deason (Catalina); his grandchild, Elizabeth “Ellie”; his siblings, William B. Deason III (Phyllis) and Louanne Casey (Ed); his nephew, Boyce Deason IV (Jamie); and the mother of children, Sherry Kimbrell. He is preceded in death by his father, William Boyce Deason, Jr.
A memorial service will be held for Mr. Deason at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Riverview Presbyterian Church, 124 S Sutton Rd, Fort Mill, SC 29708. The family will receive visitors following the service.
