Anne McClellan Blackwell, 83, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, at White Oak Manor of York, South Carolina.
Born on February 12, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, Anne lived a full life as a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She had a deep love for faith, the arts, and her community. Originally founded by her mother, Doris S. McClellan, Anne became the Director of the York County Concert Ballet Company, where she shared her passion for classical ballet and inspired countless students through her dedication and creativity.
Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dean F. Blackwell, and her brother, Roger B. McClellan.
She is lovingly survived by her four children: H. Lee Blackwell (Cindy) of Shelby, North Carolina; Timothy Dean Blackwell (Connie) of Shelby, North Carolina; Elizabeth Blackwell Janiskee (Dan) of Columbia, South Carolina; and Caroline Blackwell Brown (Andrew) of Rock Hill, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Anne’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by the memorial service at noon.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all of Anne’s caretakers at White Oak Manor Grace Cottage of York for their compassion and care. Special thanks are also given to her nearest and dearest friend, Leslie Cooper, for countless visits, unending love, and steadfast support to Anne and her daughters during this time.
Anne will be remembered for her grace, strength, artistic spirit, and the deep love she held for her family and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
