Our mom, Rachel A. Reeves, who was the mother of Steve (Marti) of Rock Hill, Phil (Gail) of Florida and Colorado, and Mark (Heidi) of Seneca, and the wife of Ronald L. Reeves (who passed away in 1998), peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, during her sleep on May 30, 2026, at the age of 92 after a brief illness following a stroke. Mom was a member of the non-denominational group of Believers in Jesus Christ and who are Gathered simply in the name of Jesus Christ. In later years she attended First Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC with her son Steve Reeves and daughter in law Marti Reeves and where she enjoyed the fellowship of other believers. She was especially fond of Jamie Burdette and Pastor Steve Hogg whose weekly sermons she would not fail to miss via live stream even from her later home in Seneca, SC. Mom also appreciated the friendship of so many in the Senior Adult Department at first Baptist Church in Rock Hill, including Annette a special friend. Mom was the older sister to 6 siblings, David (deceased), twins Carolyn (Ken), and Marilyn (Dave), Don ( Maryanne), Dan (Sherry), and Tim (Sally) To her boys she was simply Mom; to her 7 grandchildren she was known as Grandma; and to her 11 great grandchildren she was often aYectionately referred to as Grandma Great. Mom embraced Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior early in life and lived a long, meaningful life, faithfully serving her Lord until her passing. As the daughter of missionary parents, she was born on the mission field in Panzi, Bandundu, Congo, in 1933, while her parents, C Dan Andersen and Martha Andersen, were full-time missionaries there. She shared countless and riveting stories from those days with her children and grandchildren, captivating them with tales filled with references to Monkey’s, Hippo’s, Boabab trees, her first boyfriend N’Jini, but mostly she wanted her family to know about God’s Grace and Power and come to know Him as their personal Savior. She was a dedicated prayer warrior for her family, and it was widely known that when anyone needed prayer for anything, Mom/Grandma/Grandma Great was the one we all wanted on the job. Mom spent most ofher adult life in Des Moines, Iowa, where she was a legend among her three sons and theirfriends for her baking skills, her sly Mexican Train cheating occasionally, and sometimesproviding a baker’s sheet of freshly baked cinnamon rolls at midnight to a backyard garagefull of teenage mechanics. She was equally well-known to most of the junk yards and pulla-part places in town for her ability to find just the right obscure part for a project one of her sons was working on in that garage, and for her skill in removing the part and negotiating the best price for it. Mom was also a supportive partner for our dad, Ron Reeves, often joining him on his various trips across the United States and Canada in evangelical service to the Lord. Mom was a person of great faith, and her greatest joy was seeing her family and others come to faith and trust in Jesus Christ for Salvation. She would want you to know Him too!
