Daril Lee Caldwell, Sr., age 78, of Lake Wylie, SC passed away on June 10, 2026 under Hospice care after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease and other Agent Orange related conditions.

Mr. Caldwell was born August 25, 1947 in Spring Creek, NC to George Caldwell, Jr. and Lucille Strickland Caldwell. He was preceded in death by both parents as well as his three siblings, sisters Pat and Sharon and brother Tommy.

Daril served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam where he received two Bronze Stars with a “V” device for valor in a combat zone. After the Army, he graduated from St. Leo University with a B.S. in Business Administration before embarking on a 30+ year career with Boddie-Noell Enterprises out of Rocky Mount, NC. He had a special love for the Great Smoky Mountains where he was born and for Lake Wylie and his final years spent here.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years Saundra (“Sandy”) and family, Michael and Sherri Conly of Lake Wylie, SC; their four sons, John, Charlie, Paul and Chris Conly; and Lisa Bates of Mt. Holly, NC and her son Conly Bates. Daril’s kindness, the many stories he shared and his unmatched wit will forever be cherished by all.

We are especially grateful for those friends and extended family who stood by us through Daril’s illness and for the Hospice and VA staffs who cared for him. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
