Rock Hill, SC – Mr. Broward Alexander “B. A.” Hodges, 93, peacefully passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026 at his home.
The service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Grace Church of the Nazarene, 1029 Mt. Gallant Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732 with Pastor Todd Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park – Cherry Road, 620 S. Cherry Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Born in Holmes County, FL, B.A. was the son of the late George Ander Hodges and the late Susan Trant Hodges. He was also preceded in death by his wife of almost 74 years, Freida W. Hodges, and his 2 brothers, Brunell Hodges and Tillman Hodges.
B.A. proudly served in the United States Army. He served in Korea, and was later stationed at Fort Campbell in Kentucky, and then at Fort Jackson in SC, where he met his beautiful wife, Freida. In his younger years, he was heavily involved in dirt track racing, supporting his son in the hobby. B.A. made it a priority to spend time with his brothers at the American Legion, rarely missing opportunities to visit with them. He was retired from Continental Tire with approximately 30 years of service. More than anything else, B.A. enjoyed time with his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You could often find him sitting in the garage, just to have the opportunity to watch them play.
Surviving are his daughter, Joannie Howington of Rock Hill, SC; his son, Andy Hodges (Renea) of Rock Hill, SC; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in B.A.’s name to the American Legion Post 34, 524 Heckle Blvd, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
