Duane Lawrence Brown, 65, of Clover, South Carolina, passed away on July 7, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on October 25, 1960, in Aurora, Ohio, Duane enjoyed working with his hands, always finding fulfillment in creating, repairing, and tinkering.  After graduating from Clover High School in 1979, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served from 1981 to 1990, achieving the rank of Sergeant. During his military career, he worked in Military Intelligence as an Electronic Warfare/Intercept Strategic Systems Analyst and a Command and Control Subsystems Repairer, using his technical expertise in support of his fellow service members and his nation.

Following his military service, Duane continued his career in technology, serving as a computer technician and later moving up to Senior Systems Administrator at Bowater Inc. from 1999 until 2020. Even after retirement, his commitment to personal growth never wavered. In 2024, he earned an Associate in Applied Science degree from Pierpont Community and Technical College, a milestone that reflected his determination and belief that it is never too late to pursue an education.

Duane found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. He was an avid bottle collector with a passion for local history, always eager to uncover and preserve pieces of the past. He enjoyed playing pool, was a devoted North Carolina Tar Heels fan, and treasured the companionship of his beloved black Labrador Retriever, Bandit.

Above all else, Duane was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie Brown; his two daughters, Amanda Brown and Megan Brown; his sister, Terry Brown; and his brothers, Bradley Brown and Roger Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Brown and Shirley Brown, of Troy PA, and his brother, Dondi Brown.

A graveside service will be held for Duane Brown at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Grandview Memorial Park, 387 Hollis Lakes Rd Rock Hill, South Carolina 29732.
