It is with shattered hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Elena “Lane” Rose Walrod, 27 years young, on July 3, 2026.  Born on March 19, 1999, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Elena brought an immeasurable amount of silliness and laughter into our lives.

Carrying on her legacy are her mother, Linda (DeStefano) Martin, (and her husband, Dennis Martin), her father, Daniel Walrod, her heartbroken siblings, Parker Walrod, Maddie Walrod, and Brooklyn Walrod, her grandparents, Michael and Nancy DeStefano of Rock Hill, SC, and Don and Shelly Walrod of Cherokee, KS, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Although born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Elena spent most of her childhood and young adult years living in Rock Hill, SC, and graduated from YPA in 2017. She pursued nursing at York Tech and obtained her CNA. She was a gifted nursing student with a heart for the elderly. Elena shifted her focus to plants and flowers in Rock Hill, but it was moving to Charleston that really allowed her experiences to grow her floristry craft. While in Charleston, Elena often spent time at the beach or their favorite local spots, whether it was a coffee shop downtown or at Recovery Room Tavern to hijack the jukebox and dance wildly with her friends, or just relaxing with her cats Spooky and Solana. And when not doing any of those things, they were consistently spending time with friends and family, celebrating life, loving unconditionally, and laughing loudly.

After a few years in Charleston, Elena moved with her best friend Hannah/Sawyer, to their current home in Charlotte, North Carolina. In Charlotte, she was blessed to find a floral home with Eden Rose Floral Studio, and eventually Proper Flowers, where she worked consistently with both studios as a freelance florist. At the time of her passing, she was actively working to build her brand and business: Rose Lane Inspirations. Her creative spirit, love for family, friends and fun, and infectious smile will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Greene Funeral Home, 2133 Ebenezer Road Rock Hill, SC 29732 at 11am. A private visitation for the family will be held separately.
