Maurice “Moe” Desmarais passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026 surrounded by family. He was born on July 7th, 1954 in Fall River, MA to Albert J. and Imelda (Bastille) Desmarais; he was the ninth of twelve children. He married Rebecca (Hinson) on October 17, 1998 in Charlotte, NC. As an entrepreneur, he owned Star Floor Covering for over twenty years and contracted many specialized jobs, including the entrance floor of Somerset High School where he replicated their Raider mascot in vinyl tile, which remained intact until renovations in 2012. Moe lived his life to the fullest and loved to cook and share his food and recipes. He is survived by his wife Rebecca, his children Jackie (Andrew) Da Silva, Gregory Desmarais and Kristina (Chad) Conroy, step-son Dwayne (Angelia) Cook, seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. Family, friends, and others whose lives Moe touched are invited to Greene Funeral Home, 2133 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732 on Friday, August 14, 2026 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. to reminisce, support and of course celebrate his life. The Funeral will be at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1698 Bird St, Rock Hill, SC 29730 on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 2 p.m.
