Rock Hill, SC – Elizabeth C. Herring, 92, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Terrabella of Rock Hill.
Elizabeth was born on November 9, 1933, to the late Waymon L. Carter Sr. and Aggie Tucker Carter, in Anderson, South Carolina. When she was five years old, Elizabeth and her family relocated to the Rock Hill area. In Rock Hill, she found her home, as she built her own life with her husband, Leslie Bass Herring. The couple had 3 children together and enjoyed a loving family. Elizabeth also had a successful career in the textile industry, where she worked for companies throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. The various companies included Cone in North Carolina, and Industrial/Celanese of Rock Hill, where she retired. In her pastime, Elizabeth loved to garden, cook, arrange flowers, and bake cornbread and coconut cakes to name a few. She will be dearly missed.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, Leslie R. Herring (Rebecca); her grandchildren, Emily Iovanna (Paul), Mallory Munn (Thomas), and Kyla Herring (Tommy Rizzo); her four great-grandchildren; her brother, Waymon L. Carter Jr.; and her sister, Sylvia Giles (AJ).
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Leslie Bass Herring; her son, Stephen Paul Herring; her daughter, Shirley Lynn Herring; and her brother, Herschel Carter.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Laurelwood Cemetery, 143 Laurel Street, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
