With a broken heart I am writing to let you all know that Lyn A Combs Sr passed away on August 5, 2026. Lyn was born in Springfield, Ohio on January 16, 1952. He passed away at his home in York, South Carolina with his loving family by his side. He fought a good fight and battled hard with terminal cancer.
Lyn was a proud veteran who served in the United States Navy serving part of his time on Saratoga Carrier and the rest of the time in Key West, Florida. He loved Key West; they traveled there many times over the years.
He married Linda in 1987 in Jellico, Tennessee. They had a good laugh while there because they were married in the grocery store by Pop Creedmoor the magistrate and owner of the store. Right in the little office behind the cash registers.
Later the company he worked for moved him and the family to Aloha, Oregon where Lyn and his wife Linda lived for over 30 years until he retired. His and Linda’s children still live in Oregon.
Lyn loved his Harley’s; he and his wife Linda rode from Oregon to South Carolina and Ohio also almost visiting all 50 states on the bike. They loved to travel, making precious memories along the way. Lyn and Linda joined abate in Oregon and every year would dress up like Mr. & Mrs. Clause for the annual toy run, delivering toys. He loved playing Santa.
Lyn is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda Lewis Combs, three sons and one daughter, Lyn Combs Jr. (wife Melissa) Matt Combs, Ike Adams, and daughter Tami Adams Guthrie. (husband Eric Guthrie).
Lyn loved being a grandfather and great grandfather. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Gerald Adams (wife Marci Adams), Geoff Adams (fiancé Melanie Lasiter), Kalley Marie Wells (husband Cody Wells), Zoe Adams, Zana Adams, Zach Guthrie, Hannah Gallardo (husband Anthony Gallardo), and Haylee Combs. He was also blessed with seven great grandchildren, Makayla Adams, Brayden Adams, Treytyn Adams, Ethen Wells, Natalie Wells, Bradley Wells and Evelyn Gallardo.
Lyn/Dad will be missed by all who loved him.
The family ask that instead of sending flowers please make donations to cancer research so that one day they can find a cure for this dreadful disease.
There will be a memorial service on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 2 pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC, 29732.
