Norma Kay Yow Chambers, 82, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on August 17, 2026.
Born in Lexington, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late George Yow and Octavia Ward Yow. Norma was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Thomas Van Chambers.
Norma enjoyed sewing, cooking, and cake decorating. She had a passion for her nursing career, she spent many years at Meadow Haven Nursing Center, now known as Pruitt Health, where she dedicated herself to caring for the elderly, which she loved. Above all, Norma loved her family. She was very devoted and cherished all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; she was loved by all.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Martha Chambers Huddle of Rutherford, NC; her two sons, Kevin DeWayne (Rebecca Lee) Chambers of Fort Mill, SC, and Jeffry Lynn (Kristen Glenn) Chambers of Simpsonville, SC; her grandchildren, Michael Andrew (Debora) Huddle, Sarah Elizabeth (Kyle) VanCamp, Zachary Andrew Chambers, Tracy Lee Chambers, Jonathan Tate Chambers, and Luke Thomas Chambers, as well as her great-grandchildren, Gregory, Elena, and Catherine. She is also survived by her brothers, Keith Yow of Winston-Salem, NC, and Ray Yow (Carol) of Whiteville, NC.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the caregivers and the physical therapy staff at Westminster Towers for their exceptional support and kindness during her time there.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Forest Hills Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Gerald Southerland.
Following the service, friends and family are invited to gather at 4:00 PM at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, located at 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC.
