Rock Hill, SC – The Reverend Terry Dean Gold, age 73, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at home surrounded by family. He was born to Marcus Clifford Gold and Doris Helen Patterson on March 10, 1953 in Shelby, NC.
He married Beth Hickman on May 30,1976 and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past May. Terry and Beth met while attending Samford University; both having just asked God to show them who they were to marry. Making it to the momentous occasion of their 50th anniversary was one of the goals Terry set when he first received his cancer diagnosis.
Terry was ordained on January 26, 1975. He also received his Bachelors of Business. He served in many ministerial capacities including Minister of Music, Interim Pastor, Minister of Youth, and Theatre & Music Teacher. Terry was a member of several music/singing groups, wrote & arranged musicals, played many instruments, wrote a book, and produced discipleship materials. He enjoyed talking with anyone he met and never, ever met a stranger.
Terry is survived by his wife, Beth and his children Nicolas (Lisa) Gold, Kelly (William) Hall, John-Marc Gold, and William “Will” (Kerstin) Gold. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Dakota Gold, Jacob, Liam, and Jane Hall, and Aspen and August Gold who affectionately called him “Papacito”
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday September 20, 2026 at 2pm at Oakland Baptist Church, 1067 Oakland Ave, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Special thanks to all of those who have prayed with Terry during his battle with cancer these last few years and those who helped to ease his transition into the arms of Jesus.
