Rock Hill, SC – Edith Sapp Ledbetter, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend passed peacefully Wednesday September 16, 2026 at home.
Edith was born March 27, 1937 in Rock Hill SC to William L. and Pearl L. Sapp. She graduated Rock Hill High School in 1955. Edith married Marvin Ledbetter in August 1959. She worked as an orthodontist assistant for Drs Culbreth and Poole for 32 years. She enjoyed serving others at West Main Nazarene, West End Baptist and the Women’s Wednesday Morning Bible Study group. Her passion was taking care of her family and friends which often included home cooked meals.
Edith is survived by her children, Melanie Ledbetter Cook (Jerrell) and Marvin “Gene” Ledbetter Jr.; grandchildren, Chason Meacham (April); Susan Alexander, and Charles Meacham. She was blessed with four great grandchildren, Tucker Alexander, Kylie Meacham, James Meacham and Kynlee Benson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin and her brothers and sisters.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732, with Rev. Barry Yates officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 AM.
