Robert Alan Anders, 50, of Fort Mill, SC, passed away on September 15, 2026, peacefully at home. For nearly half a century, Rob made his home in the York County communities he loved, spending his childhood and young adulthood in Rock Hill, and the past 23 years in Fort Mill. Born on November 14, 1975 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Rob was the son of Laura Ellen Campbell Anders and Robert Earl Anders.
Rob was a man of many talents and interests. A graduate of Winthrop University, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting, he possessed a deep appreciation and gift for art and creativity. Music, cars, motorcycles, and automotive racing were among the many things that captured his imagination and lit his spark.
Rob loved to talk (and talk, and talk). He was quick to share a thought, a story, or a bit of knowledge, and those who knew him will remember his animated conversations as much as anything else. He was always willing to lend a hand when he could, and his kind heart was evident in the many ways he showed up for the people he loved.
Rob had a genuine love of food and considered a good meal one of life’s great pleasures. He also did a mean job manning the grill or Blackstone, preparing some phenomenal burgers, steaks and hibachi, phenomenal – a word he himself loved and used often. He was never one to shy away from a burrito (the bigger, the better) or a plate of Asian delicacies, and he took great pleasure in discovering good food and,
perhaps even more so, talking about and sharing photos of it. Yet some of his most cherished meals were the ones prepared at home by his wife, Adrienne. He never failed to eat, appreciate, and compliment every meal she made, even the bad ones. It was a simple but meaningful expression of his love and appreciation, or perhaps, as those who knew him well might suspect, simply just evidence of his considerable appetite.
Rob liked to joke that he didn’t follow “ball sports.” That all changed when he discovered the joy of coaching his daughter Emily’s soccer and basketball teams as she was growing up. Coaching gave him another way to spend time with Emily, encourage her, cheer her on, and be part of the things she loved. He was immensely proud of Emily and celebrated her accomplishments both on and off the field and court. He took pride in her academic achievements and was thrilled by her admission to Clemson University. To Rob, there was little in life more rewarding than watching Emily grow into the remarkable young woman she has become.
Rob’s greatest love story began during his senior year of high school, when he met Adrienne Walters. What began as a young love, grew into a lifelong bond. Through the years, their relationship evolved into an almost twenty-five-year marriage. They would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on October 13th, a date that holds an even more profound meaning for their family, as it is also the birthday of their beloved daughter, Emily.
Rob leaves behind his wife, Adrienne Nicole Walters-Anders, and their daughter, Emily Carson Anders.
He was predeceased by his mother, Laura Ellen Campbell Anders. He is also survived by his father, Robert Earl Anders; his sister, Laura Elizabeth Anders Bowler and husband Duwayne; his brother, Michael Campbell Anders and wife Caitlin; and his nieces and nephews, Breanna Michele Neely, Kirsten Marie Neely, Connor Reed Anders, and Sawyer Pryce Anders; his mother-in-law, Paulette Meyers, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Clemson University to help support Emily’s continued education. Please include a note indicating that the contribution is in memory of Robert Anders and is intended to support his daughter Emily Anders’ Clemson University account.
