Annie Lou Price Deason peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Annie was the daughter of the late Ila Lee Walker and the late William Henry Price. She was the middle child of seven children and was preceded in death by her siblings, with her only living sibling being Margie Price McGuire of Fort Mill.

Annie grew up in Fort Mill and attended school in the community, and graduated at the age of 15 in the eleventh grade, as was normal in 1946. Her school years came during the difficult days of World War II, when there were no athletic teams or school trips to Washington, DC. Even at a young age, Annie distinguished herself through her gifts in typing, shorthand, and bookkeeping.

During WWII, beginning at the age of 14, Ann proudly served as a member of the U.S. National Home Guard in Fort Mill, reporting to Commanders H. E. Adkins and Bill Alexander. Her willingness to serve and her strong work ethic were qualities that remained throughout her life.

Annie’s desire to work and stay busy began at an early age. At just 14 years old, she began her first job as a clerk for Hutchinson’s Dry Good Store on Main Street in Fort Mill. After high school, she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at Belk Lady’s Ready To Wear Store, also located on Main Street.

In 1947, at the age of 17, Annie began working in payroll at Springs Mill #1. Mr. D. L. Thomas, the Mill Manager and a member of the same church Annie attended, asked her to come to work there. Later, she moved to a production job in the Spool Room to earn more money. It was there, in the Warper Room, that Annie met William Boyce “B” Deason. That meeting began a love story that would lead to 54 years of marriage.

After marrying “B” and welcoming three children, Ann continued her working life at Celanese Corporation in Rock Hill, where she worked in Spinning and the chemical lab. When B began traveling with Fluor Daniel, Ann joined him for the adventure. Together, they traveled to Salisbury, NC; Detroit, MI; Kansas City, MO; Beatty, NV; Belmont, CA; and Tulsa, OK.

At every location, she found a church where she could serve, made lasting friendships, explored the surrounding area, and enjoyed learning its history.

In 1990, B retired, and the two returned home to Rock Hill, where they were happy to once again be close to family and the community they loved.

Ann lived a full and active life and had many interests. As a young woman, she loved to dance and would often say she would rather dance than eat when hungry. She was talented and creative, enjoying sewing, cooking, canning, embroidery, crocheting, and china painting. Her family will always treasure the beautiful artwork she created and the memories that are woven into each piece.

Cleaning and organizing were also passions of Ann’s. She loved to clean, organize, and keep things in order, taking pride in her home and surroundings.

Above all, Ann’s faith was an important part of her life. She became a Christian at the age of 10 at St. John Methodist Church in Fort Mill, beginning a lifelong relationship with her faith and her church.

Family was always the most important part of Ann’s life. Her proudest accomplishment was her three children, and she took great pride in her family and the lives they built.  She has been affectionately know as “Mimi” for 53 years.

She is survived by her children, William B. (Dub) Deason, III (Phyllis) and Louanne Casey (Ed). She was predeceased by her favorite child and baby boy, Rodney Deason.

Ann was blessed with nine grandchildren, Boyce Deason (Jamie), Jessica Vosburg (Jason), Adrienne Williamson (Eric), Jamie Scruggs (Andy), Ben Deason (Dana), Sarah Deason, Jake Deason (Catalina), Lisa Mazingo (Bobby), and Catherine Billing (James).

Her family continued to grow through the years, and she was blessed with 14 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Ann’s life was defined by her faith, her many talents, her love of family, and her willingness to embrace every adventure life brought her. She leaves behind generations of family who will carry her memories and the love she gave throughout her long and meaningful life.

Family will welcome and receive friends on Monday, October 12, 2026 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel at 12:30PM with a service following at 1:30PM. Entombment will take place at Grandview Memorial Park- Cherry Road immediately after the service.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Oakdale Baptist Church of Rock Hill.
