William David Maurice Jr, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2026, at Meridian Center in High Point, North Carolina.
Mr. Maurice was born on July 14, 1944, in Gastonia, North Carolina to the late William David Maurice Sr. and Evelyn Cashion Terrell Maurice. He attended Garringer High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, and following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After initially being stationed in Puerto Rico, he was transferred to Vietnam where he served for two years. Following his time in the service, he became a sheet metal fabricator by trade, later owning his own shop. He then became shop foreman at Catoe and Nalley Industrial for almost 30 years. In his free time, he was an avid golfer and also always enjoyed working outdoors. He was a very kind neighbor who would regularly offer to mow his neighbors’ lawns after doing his own. Mr. Maurice especially loved spending time with his family. He always treasured his time with his children, his granddaughters, and his great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Mr. Maurice is survived by his children, Courtney Maurice Cox (Roger) and Adam Lindsey Maurice; his granddaughters, Brittany Hudson (Devon), Tiffany Cox; her great-grandchildren, Sophia Hudson and Brooks Hudson; his sisters, Brenda Pell (Joe) and Kay King; and his long-time friend, Jimmy Catoe.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Brenda Thompson Maurice; his son, William David Maurice III “Trey”; his aforementioned parents, and his sisters, Judy Pucket and Lydia West.
A funeral service will be for Mr. Maurice at 11:30 AM on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. The family will hold a visitation at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow the service at Forest Hills Cemetery.
