It is with profound sadness that we share the unexpected passing of David “Reggie” Dobosz, 68, of Rock Hill, SC, formerly of Somers, CT, who passed away on October 6, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. Above all, he was the most loyal person you could ever meet.
Born in Somersville, Connecticut, to Stanley and Jean Dobosz, David played sports over the years, starting with high-school soccer, moving to duck-pin bowling, and later to softball with one of his lifelong friends, Roger Belliveau. During this time, he hit so many home runs that Reggie Jackson lent him a nickname. In David’s world everyone had one, and his stuck for the rest of his life.
He was the lone Yankees fan in a Red Sox Nation and never wavered, which tells you everything about his loyalty. He traveled to Notre Dame games with a group of close friends and fans, including his dear friend Johnny Netkovick, followed NASCAR from the grandstands with his son, brother, and brother-in-law, and wore a signature mustache that never once went out of style.
He coached his son in little league, and he and Linda never missed their daughter ‘s soccer games alongside Linda’s mother and fellow superfan, Dot Stolarz. He spent 33 years at GH Berlin Oil, retiring in 2019, and kept right on working: security for the Yard Goats, then Rock Hill Parks and Rec, because he could not stay away from sports and making new friends. A lifelong member of the Knight of Columbus, he volunteered for everything and was the person anyone called when they needed anything. His happy place was Maine, where he and Linda married and where they made many memories with friends and family.
David’s friend list could have filled a stadium. The friends he made in high school, on the sports fields, and at work stayed for life. And while the name Reggie stuck, the name he treasured most was the one his grandsons Travis, Luca, and Noah gave him: Pa.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda; his son, Jeremy David Dobosz; his daughter-in-law, Carly; and his grandson Travis. He is also survived by his grandsons Luca and Noah Rochford; his siblings, Kenneth, Karen, and Mary, and their spouses; his brother-in-law Richard Stolarz; and many nieces and nephews, who adored their uncle. He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Jean; his daughter, Leah; and his in-laws, Theodore and Dorothy Stolarz.
David gave to the very end. As an organ donor, he gave life to others upon his passing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in memory of David “Reggie” Dobosz. Donations can be made online at https://secure.qgiv.com/for/pulfibfou/info/website or by mail to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundations, 223 W. Jackson Blvd, Suite 350 Chicago, IL 60606.
