On October 14, 2026, Janie Moody Craig went peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Janie was born in Jackson County, North Carolina to Mildred and Mack Moody. Janie was 87 years old when she passed.
Janie and her family moved to Rock Hill when she was young. She met and married William Craig Jr. (Bill) when she was just 15 years old. Together they raised 3 children, Kaye, Faye, and Bill. Bill and Janie were married for 63 years.
In 1969, Janie began her first job at Belk Department Store as the manager of the cosmetic department. During her time at Belk, she decided to go back to night school and she got her diploma in 1973. After finishing school, she began working at Wickes Lumber. Later she worked at Southern Bank and Trust as a teller. Janie loved her life as a wife, mother, and later grandmother.
Surviving are her children, Kaye Hughes and husband, Jim, son, William Craig III and wife Tina as well as 5 grandchildren, Will and Charlie Snipes, James Hughes Jr. and Chase and Pierce Watson. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Foley and husband Frank, and her brother Harvey Moody.
Janie was predeceased by her husband, William Craig Jr, her daughter, Faye Snipes, her mother and father Mildred and Mack Moody.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM at Mt. Holly Methodist Church Cemetery, 1996 Mt. Holly Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
Janie was greatly loved by friends and family. She fought valiantly against Alzheimer’s. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local Alzheimer’s Foundation or the charity of your choice.
